Obituary for Elizabeth "Betty" Ganton (Peters)

Elizabeth “Betty” Ganton, along with sister Sarah and brothers Frank, Cornelius, and John were born to Frank and Elizabeth Peters of the Warman area. She was the eldest and outlived her siblings. Betty was born September 19, 1922.
Elizabeth, hereafter known as “Betty” was engaged in various occupations. As a young girl, she helped on her parent’s farm even harnessing and driving horses doing field work. Later she was a domestic and was an excellent cook. After sewing classes she became an impeccable seamstress making garments for herself and others.
In 1961 she married Oakley Ganton and to this union, a son John William was born. In 1964 she was left a widow. She later married Robert and after they farmed for many years, they retired in Melfort. In 2005 Bob passed away and Betty’s health seemed to deteriorate slowly and she was placed in Assisted Living and finally in Parkland Place where she received excellent care. Betty passed away on February 16, 2017 at the age of 94 years.
Betty is survived by her son John (Fay), four granddaughters, sisters-in-law Mary Peters, Ruth Prytula, Edith Baptist, and a host of nieces and nephews.
