~~~Bulmer~~~
Marilyn Marguerite Bulmer
Marilyn passed away peacefully on July 17, 2017, surrounded by family and friends. From the time Marilyn was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, she fought valiantly, with courage and optimism.
Marilyn was born September 28, 1940 to Walter and Inez Peterson. They moved to Melfort when she was 8 years old, and lived there until the time of her passing. Marilyn married Jerry Bulmer on November 8, 1958. They were blessed with 3 children, Rod, Bobbie and Karen.
Marilyn enjoyed cooking and baking, providing legendary meals for her family and friends! She loved playing bridge, handbells, golf, and having coffee with her many friends. Marilyn was a pillar in the United church, volunteering tirelessly. Her faith was very important to her.
Marilyn's family always came first. Her children, then grandchildren were the light of her life! Marilyn always said if she knew grandchildren were going to be this much fun, she would have had them first! Grandma and Grandpa never missed a birthday, special event, golf tournament or hockey game! Upon their high school graduation, Grandma and Grandpa took each of the grandkids on a trip, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Marilyn and Jerry were also blessed with six great grandchildren which added even more enjoyment to their lives. She loved looking at the pictures that showed up on her iPad every day!
In their later years, Marilyn and Jerry became Florida snowbirds, spending the winter in the sunshine on the golf course! Marilyn was so grateful to have this last year in Florida post diagnosis, a testament to her strength and determination.
Marilyn and Jerry's lives were forever changed in August 2010 with the passing of their beloved son Rod. They moved through their devastation with courage and grace, filled with gratitude for the overwhelming support of their family, friends and community. We take solace knowing that Mom is reunited with her son.
Marilyn is survived by Jerry, her loving husband of 58 years; her daughters Bobbie (Michael) Dunphy, and Karen (Kent) Hegglin; her grandchildren Torrie (Ryan) Silverthorn, Troy Bulmer; Mike (Lisa), Shaun (Laural), Sam, Bryn Dunphy; Eric, Paul (Cheryl), Jordan (Tegan), Sarah Hegglin; and great grandchildren Fielding, Leila, Jude, Ben, Aubrey, and Ella Rose. Marilyn also leaves to mourn a large extended family, and many dear friends she considered family. She was predeceased by her parents, grandson Brett, and her son Rod.
The service to celebrate Marilyn's life will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 2:00pm at the Melfort United Church. The family requests casual dress as we gather to remember Marilyn. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
