Obituary for Mason William Gariepy

Mason William Gariepy
Mason William Gariepy
Mason passed away peacefully in his mother’s arms on November 25, 2017 at the age of 7 years, after a long courageous battle against Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Mason was born on 10/10/10, which happens to be his favorite number. He was a happy kid and always smiling. He adored his brothers and wanted to do everything they were doing. Mason loved spending time outside, playing board games, camping, fishing and going for a drive. It didn’t matter where, as long as he was going. He loved to sing and listen to music except for ‘Happy Birthday’. For some reason he didn’t like family and friends singing Happy Birthday before he blew out his candles. Anybody that knew Mason knows he loved his Minions. Bob was his favorite and for three years in a row, he dressed like King Bob for Halloween.
Everyone that met Mason, without exception, was touched by his spirit, his sense of humour, his generosity and his deep love for others. He also knew how cute he was and would test us to see if could get away with things.
We knew that Mason was special from the moment he was born. What we didn’t know was how little time we would have with him.
He leaves to mourn his parents: Gale and Jaret Gariepy; brothers: Connor and Ethan; grandparents: Sharon Granrude, Dale Granrude, John (Margaret) Gariepy; aunts and uncles: Garry (Ute) Granrude, Vince Gariepy, Sylvia Gariepy and numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins. Also his sweet love Kelsey Luedtke and his dog Jake.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Saskatchewan Polytechnic Building, 1100-15th St East, Prince Albert, SK on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the gymnasium. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Recreation Therapy Department and Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan can be made at any Saskatchewan Affinity Credit Union; Gale and Jaret Trust Account. The amount will be split between these two non-profit organizations that were crucial in Mason’s journey.
